Rock Climbing Mentorship Program
Dream It, Do It!
The rock climbing mentorship program was designed for climbers who want to take their climbing to the next level through hands on application. It was developed for both the sport and traditional climber who is wanting to move from climbing indoors to leading outdoors.
The program is designed for in person climbs during the summer months, from Mid June – Mid September. A certified rock guide will deliver educational clinics and give you the opportunity to apply skills in a variety of settings to support decision making and gain confidence. The guide will be available to students for questions, visual inspection of techniques, critics, coaching, and technique refinement.
A group of peers will become friends and climbing partners, and you will all be guided through professional progressions.
- Great for lead climbers in the gym who climb 5.9 comfortably and want to take their climbing outdoors
- Great for sport climbers who already lead outdoors and are ready to take their climbing to the next level
- Great for climbers interested in, or who already traditional lead climb up to 5.9
- Great for climbers interested in meeting like minded others who share a similar mindset all while under the supervision of a trained professional
Our mentorship program offers 24 days of training in the summer months (June – September). You will self select up to 16 dates to work with an AMGA certified rock guide in small groups. Mentorship includes topics like; technical skills, mindset, lead climbing, and practical application showing technical skills while lead climbing, all while under supervision.
This is a leadership course, and a professional guide will not only teach you, but also let you make decisions in real time while the guide is available to you for questions and feedback.
The group enrollment period is limited, and only available for up to 24 people. After the enrollment period has closed, the group participants will then sign up for individual mentorship days, and limited to a group size of 6. Each mentee will have ample opportunity to lead while on their mentee days.
A progression will be delivered through the summer.
Requirements for Participation:
- Ability to cleanly climb 5.9 in a climbing gym
- Top rope belay experience (either outdoors or with a climbing gym certification)
- Lead climbing experience (training for a lead test at a climbing gym, taken our Outdoor Sport Lead Climbing Course, or have taken our Ultimate Sport Climbing Course)
This course is not for you if you are already leading traditional routes at a 5.9 level or more.
The Rock Climbing Leadership Mentorship Program will last between mid June and mid September, and have 24 total days to choose from.
The enrollment period closes on June 15th, and registration is limited to 24 participants. Once registration is closed, Kaf Adventures will release a custom calendar for each participant to register for the dates of their choosing.
Participants will be eligible to enroll for up to 15 class dates. Class sizes will be limited to 6 people. To keep things equitable and for participants to have a similar amounts of time in the program, Kaf reserves the ability to adjust mentee participation.
If high demand exists, Kaf will consider adding an additional guide to the program.
Participants in the program can expect working with a mentor 12 – 15 days total in the program.
