Ice Climbing Instruction

Do you want to learn how to ice climb? Or do you need to brush up on your ice climbing technique before a big mountaineering trip? Then this instructional course for beginners and intermediates is perfect for you!

At KAF Adventures, we love Ice Climbing!!! 

We are personally excited and motivated to climb ice, and we’d enjoy nothing more than teaching you the skills how to do so too. We are passionate about instructing climbers on this amazing medium in the in the Northwest and then guiding them in the country’s most spectacular ice playground – New England!!!

So if you’ve always wanted to try ice climbing, or you have experience but need a little more instruction before you’re comfortable on steeper and longer routes, this course is the most cost-effective way to achieve your goals.

Our Ice Climbing Instruction course was created for complete beginners and intermediate climbers as an experience to get outdoors, push your perception of comfort and learn more about the world of ice climbing.

The course curriculum Includes:

• Thorough discussion of equipment
• Ice climbing technique
• Ice anchors, Abalakovs
• Intro to the great ice areas to climb in the NW
• Rope handling
• Proper site selection for safety and climbing abilities
• Advanced topics -based on participant skill level: Multi-pitch belay stances, leading techniques, advanced movement techniques, mixed climbing, and speed climbing techniques

This course will also set you up well to experience climbs such as Mt. Hood Alpine Ice + Cooper Spur.

Cost: $150 per person, perday

• Minimum 3 people (larger groups will receive a discount based on the number of participants)
