People do fall into crevasses; it’s a natural part of mountaineering. So practice your rescue skills yearly!

It’s a wise idea to take the opportunity to have your rescue and mountain skills evaluated by professionals every year. Whether you have foundational skills, or are just starting to break into the world of glaciated mountains, this course will give you the confidence to venture further and deeper into the alpine (and who knows, you may need to save a life someday).

KAF Adventures Crevasse Rescue Course

Join KAF Adventures for an exhilarating and important 4.5 day course into Glacier Mountaineering and Crevasse Rescue.

The skills you will be taught by our passionate instructors are imperative for your safety and the safety of your team members when traveling over glaciated terrain or any remote and precipitous environment.

The knowledge and skill necessary to perform a rescue needs to be solidified BEORE an accident occurs. The last thing you want to have happen on the mountain is to be faced with an accident and not have the proper training and skills to rescue your group member. Better safe than sorry!

This course will teach you the skills to avoid hazardous terrain and technical skills to execute a rescue.

We will put you in scenarios that test your reaction and stress level; and we will give you the confidence needed to venture into crevassed terrain as a competent rope team member.

Navigation
Mountain weather
Glacier camping
Rope coiling and glacier rigging
Rope team travel
2 and 3 person Crevasse Rescue
Z hauls and C-hauls
Crevasse route finding
Optional summit climb (student led)

Once you’ve completed KAF’s basic foundational courses, it’s time to head into the mountains for an extended period and truly solidify everything you’ve learned (and take part in an exciting adventure!). The 9 Day Alpine Climbing Course is where all of your skills will come together and you will become a confident mountaineer!
