If you are new to avalanche terrain this is a great place to start. Take the first steps to really “know before you go” with this fundamental classroom based lecture.  Come join us for a 3 hour evening lecture where we introduce backcountry travelers to avalanche terrain. At the end of this lecture participants will have: a better understanding of avalanche advisories, tools to decide if conditions are safe to travel in the backcountry, and a foundation to recognize and/or avoid avalanche hazards.

AGES This is a beginner level course. Any backcountry knowledge will enhance your ability to learn, but no prior experience is necessary.
PREREQUISITES This is a beginner level course, and there are no prerequisites.

EQUIPMENT We encourage participants to bring something on which to take notes. These are helpful for future reference and as guidelines during your avalanche education.

TRANSPORTATION & TIMES Transportation and times will be coordinated by email when the pre-trip announcement is sent to all registrants. It is your responsibility to arrive at Kaf Adventures prepared and on time.

This beginner avalanche course is a three hour, seminar course on the essentials for avalanche awareness. We will meet at Kaf Adventures and cover the topics listed in the “What You Will Learn” section.
