FAQ

What does KAF mean?

“KAF” is a ancient Hebrew word meaning “the power to actualize potential”, and was discovered by a longtime friend who knew we were searching for a name to try and capture our essence.  KAF Adventures is just that, a place for you to actualize your potential.  To become empowered to do and be more than your ever thought possible.

What is the Lizard in the logo all about?

The “Lizard” is a chameleon.  We like it for many reasons, yet a few stand out:

  • It is playful and fun, we are in a very serious business with safety and quality our highest priority, yet it is nice to remember that we are really out here to have fun.
  • Chameleons adapt to their surroundings, taking in information from the world around them and then physically changing as a result.  This idea of letting the environment be the guide rather than forcing the world to change as a result of our actions really resonates with our ethos.
  • Chameleons climb, effortlessly shifting weight from foot to foot, swaying with such awesome grace that we could only hope to emulate this ease in our own climbing.

We share an office with a great ecotourism and epicurean tour company called Evergreen Escapes!  We are great personal friends with everyone in the office and so proud to be sharing this creative and energetic office.  On any given weekend we collectively are delivering 10-20 trips to local and international guests.

What is included in the cost of the trip?

Depending on how long your course length is and the type of course this varies greatly.  You will receive a pre-trip email about 5days before your trip start date to let you know the specific details.  Most trips will have a snack provided at the end of the day, and any group gear needed for the outing (ropes, maps, tents, permits, etc).  KAF has a full selection of rental gear for your personal equipment needs (harnesses, helmets, crampons, etc).  Please contact us directly if you have more questions.

Do you provide Transportation?

This is one area where KAF has determined it is more cost-effective for everyone to carpool vs owning a commercial vehicle.  We love the idea of being able to provide transportation in an awesome 15-passenger van, yet the cost associated with insuring/operating this would drive up prices!  So, we decided to stick with the old-fashioned carpool, and do our very best to fill cars and limit our impact on the environment.

What is the typical costs associated with a trip?

Each course will list on the page what the course cost is, as well what is included.  All of our courses include a light snack, and all group climbing/camping gear.  Overnight trips will include dinner and breakfast, as well as some smashing desert and hot drinks!

Instructional climbing classes are based on the most cost effective value, please see specific trip pages for more details regarding trip costs.

Custom itinerary costs vary depending on group size, trip length, etc… and are listed below.

Our custom designed international rock climbing trips are tailored to your group’s specific needs, therefore the price varies. When determining our price, KAF Adventures always tries to secure the most cost effective itinerary for you or your group.

Remember the more people you have on a trip, the lower the cost for each participant. Quality is always a consideration when looking into outdoor companies; we can assure you, your cost associated with a KAF trip is crafted with the highest quality care in mind. You’re satisfaction is always our top priority!

The way we are able to provide the most cost effective training for you is by maintaining a certain number of attendees per class. Therefore, some classes may not run if we don’t receive enough enrollments. So get your friends to sign up with you today and you’ll save money!
